Whether you need to dispose of lots of food waste or just left over pet food (yes, we did supply and install one for a customer for just that reason!), there is a waste disposer to suit your needs and budget.
Waste disposers operate in one of two ways, continuous feed where the opening to the disposer is always open, you switch it on and just keep adding your waste until it's all gone, or batch feed where you put the waste into the disposer and when it's full, you put the plug in and turn it to start grinding. Both methods require running water for both 30 seconds before operation, during and 30 seconds after operation finishes to ensure the finely ground particles are safely washed down the drain. The dinner plates could be rinsed over the disposer so extra water useage need not be an issue.
The picture above is of a batch feed disposer (our own disposer, in fact) probably worth considering if you have small children since nothing can be put in the disposer whilst in operation. It is, however, a myth that if you put your hand (or someone else's!) in a waste disposer it will be minced!
If you are limited for space, there are plenty of compact waste disposers to choose from. The disposer above is one of the largest. Prices start from £120 for a waste disposer suitable for 2-3 people.
Shawfit can also install your
waste disposal unit. We are NICEIC registered and so
can also undertake any necessary electrical work and
provide the necessary paperwork to comply with current
regulations.
